FOTODOCUMENT FRINGE – CALL FOR ENTRIES
About FotoDocument Fringe
Entry is now open for the first round of FotoDocument Fringe. The project is an on going free to enter photography competition that aims to encourage the participation of amateur and professional photographers of any age from all over the world. Entrants are invited to submit a series of three of their best images depicting positive environmental initiatives which will inspire and inform viewers. The project aims to showcase ways in which individuals, communities, organisations and governments across the world are successfully tackling climate change and environmental degradation.
Anyone can enter this competition from anywhere in the world whether a school pupil, a hobbyist or a seasoned professional. Entrants are invited to submit a series of three of their best images (from one subject) which fall within our environmental theme. Alongside the images, a short synopsis of no more than 150 words explaining the images is required. If possible, please send your images at a high resolution (42cm Longest Edge at 300dpi) in case they are selected for exhibition purposes later. However, we will only use low resolution images on our website. Please send the three image files and entry form via the free and easy to use large file transfer service We Transfer www.wetransfer.com which will ask you to attach the files, include your sending address, a short message and include who you are sending them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Use of photographs
Selected photographs will be entered into an on-line exhibition, consisting of a grid of thumbnail images, showcasing exciting solutions to problems associated with climate change and environmental degradation from all over the world. It will essentially be an international image and information hub. Viewers will be able to search for photographs according to location, subject or participating group (eg school). Photographs will be credited to the photographer, captioned and geo-located. Web links will be included where possible. Although we will try, we are sorry that we may not be able to include all submitted images as we are looking for the best.
Selection and prizes
Exciting photographic prizes will be awarded for the best three sets of entries in the first round of submissions which will be selected by our judges Magnum photographer Mark Power, renowned documentary photographer Melanie Friend, award-winning travel photographer Karoki Lewis and the FotoDocument Team. Prize winners will be announced after 10th November 2012.
