Lina Scheynius is one of those photographers whose work I find and I’m surprised I haven’t seen before now. Born 1981 in Vänersborg in Sweden, Lina grew up in Trollhättan. She shoots exclusively on film, and, like a few photographers I’ve featured recently, creates images with huge personal relevance.
Her photographs are punctuated with ‘the ordinary’ – clouds, clothes, bed sheets – but you can’t shake off the feeling there’s something extraordinary lurking just beyond the frame; a story, a moment, a sentence. Something that greatly matters. It’s this something ‘else’ that overwhelms the content, creating a space somewhat sublime and you can’t help looking – even though you feel you’re slightly intruding. Great stuff.
I highly reccommend viewing more of her work here on her website.
