Britain from Above presents the unique Aerofilms collection of aerial photographs from 1919-1953.
Photographs of famous British landmarks such as Blackpool Tower and St Paul’s Cathedral have now been made freely available for viewing from the new ‘Britain from Above’ site.
More than 16,000 thousand images taken between 1919 and 1953 have been salvaged and uploaded, with a further 95,000 planned to be added to the collection by 2014.
With an evocative sense of nostalgia, ariel photographs also depict historical events such as the Queen Mary’s maiden voyage in 1936 and the 1935 FA Cup Final.

I always find it so interesting to see architectural/aerial photos from long ago – amazing how much our world has changed.
